Seeing a chiropractor
At Flourish, our chiropractors use the Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) to adjust your body and facilitate the healing process. This involves using orthopaedic blocks and the activator instrument to adjust the spine and other parts of your body as needed. If indicated, we will also use soft tissue therapies and spinal manipulation. Find out more about SOT here and our SOT chiropractic team here.
Referrals
You don’t need a doctor’s referral to see one of our chiropractors. It’s also worth knowing our practitioners can refer you for x-rays, CT scans or MRI and to other health specialists, as well as provide medical certificates, if you need them.
Your first visit
Your first chiropractic assessment involves an extended visit so we can discuss your heath concerns and goals. This appointment is also about gathering clinical data, so we will perform a comprehensive, postural, physical, orthopaedic, neurological and chiropractic examination and potentially refer you for scans. For most adults, chiropractic care will not start until this testing is completed and a clinical diagnosis and individual treatment plan is made. These will be discussed with you in your second visit.
Your second visit
This visit is an extended visit in which we’ll discuss your clinical diagnosis and individual treatment plan and start your treatment. Your treatment plan will be re-assessed regularly as your body improves.
Regular consultations – the ongoing healing process
In every appointment, we take the time you need for your treatment and to discuss any questions you may have.
With the orthopaedic blocks and the activator instrument, we help you do the healing yourself. You may also find nutritional support, rehabilitative exercise and home care work for you as part of the healing process.
