At Christmas time there is no need for the kids to give up on the failsafe eating. There are plenty of great christmas treats you can make which won’t trigger those nasty intolerances.

Shortbread

This is a great recipe to keep the kids entertained as they will love to help with the kneading and cutting into different christmas shapes.

225g butter or failsafe margarine such as Nuttalex

1/2 cup caster sugar

3 cups of plain flour or gluten-free flour

1/4 cup cornflour

1/4 teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 180 degrees.

Cream butter and sugar well, add sifted flour, cornflour and salt. Knead well.

Roll out to 12 to 18mm thick and cut into shapes.

Place on a cold, greased tray and prick with a fork.

Bake for about 30 minutes at 180 degrees.
